CB SA to FT recruiting for IB
Greetings and salutations monkeys,
I am currently a junior finance student entering my spring semester at a non-target. I managed to secure an SA role at a large Canadian bank (think RBC/BMO/TD) in their Corporate Banking division in one of their top groups. However, my first and most desirable goal is to end up in IB for the long run. I do not plan on reneging on my offer but I am curious to hear others' opinions and thoughts on transitioning from CB-SA to a full-time IB analyst. Any advice about next steps would be greatly appreciated.

IB at same bank from SA to FT is going to be impossible, don't try it and make HR pull even your CB offer. Network to stay in the loop for any FT postings and you can always request transfer (still very hard to do) ~1 year in I think.
How about lateraling to another bank?
Same deal, need to network and be able to convince others why they should take you.
