Centerview Associate Culture
Thinking about going A2A at my firm, and therefore thinking about throwing my resume into the Centerview lateral pile as well given the crazy comp. Anyone have insight into the Centerview Associate culture?
Hours, deal team sizes, industry setup, ability to play up, promotion timeline rigidity, senior attitude (are they easygoing or neurotic assholes, etc.), facetime, attitude towards WFH / flexible work, etc.
Thanks!
You have to do sweaty hours to get absolutely ludicrous pay. Just a fact in banking
Worthless comment
curious what you thought this added
Centerview is notorious for long/rough hours and good pay.

Out of curiosity, how are you applying for a lateral position at Centerview? Did you find it through a recruiter?

Not going to give a long comment here, but that's total BS. Sure there will be the occasional analyst/associate who's miserable but they'd be miserable anywhere. Given it's banking where hours will be long anywhere, the culture is pretty exceptional in my experience. There's a reason the firm is usually ranked top for culture and renowned for its culture.
Thanks centerview hr. My friend had a horrible time there. Weirdly enough, recruiters will not stop hitting me up about centerview lateral ops.
Why does centerview constantly have to recruit for laterals(from low bbs like myself) if the culture is so amazing?
Have multiple close friends there at junior level and can confirm this
I did my banking stint at Centerview and left for the buyside a few years ago. I'd always felt that Centerview had a great culture (with the exception of Palo Alto, which had some problematic senior staff when I was there) and decent hours. Never remotely resembled a sweatshop when I was there, and I'd be shocked if that was the case now.
What’s their associate interview process like?
I had an associate lateral interview there and the guy asked me "What policies would I reccomend to ensure more of the country continues to get vaccinated?"
I thought it was a joke question. Anyways I basically said "Honestly, how are you going to convince a lot of the country to get vaccinated and follow your covid guidance when
1. The messaging keeps changing (Masks are not effective, dont wear it; Everyone should be masked; if you got the vaccine you can take off the mask ; nevermind, if you got the vaccine you need to wear it again...."
2. They keep changing the goalposts (from "Only two weeks of shutdowns to let hospitals recover a bit, its impossible to completely stop the spread but we can flatten the curve" to "We are instituting lockdowns for several months in order to enact a "zero covid" policy" )
3. Why does the government even need to spend money forcing people to get vaccinated. Everyone is aware of it, if they feel like it's to their benefit, they can easily get it. If they don't want it, they can roll the dice with Covid. Stuff like the vaccine lottery is a joke and misapropriation of taxpayer dollars."
My next interview scheduled with the next Centerview banker was cancelled after this (srs).
Just lol at centerview and their questions.
Isn't Effron like a life-long Democrat lol? I lean Republican and am fully vaccinated so not anti-vaxx but pro-choice for people making their own medical decisions.
I feel these answers are fairly centrist and aren't bad. Maybe you came off too conservative (even if you're not lol).
Does anyone know if associates at Centerview get assigned to coverage groups, or if they’re still generalists? I know analysts work across industries.
