CF to IBD; Is it actually an option?

So it's come down to this. I have been offered a f100 FLDP position at a company that generally puts people in FP&A roles, but not so much accounting and never really corp dev. I also have a TFA offer but i'm very hesitant about it. I hear people often talk about taking an FLDP offer and turning it into a top b school or IBD, yet it seems like I haven't really seen this out of CF people I actually know. Does this actually happen? Or is it just used by the Goebbel's of CF on WSO? Any and all opinions are appreciated.

Hooked on LEAPSFrom what I've heard it sort of works the other way around, but that is one level above gossip.
Certainly a lot of bankers go into corp dev. But whenever people ask about fldp options people talk about them like they are the next best thing and can lead to lateraling to IBD or top b school. Yet I don't really see it happen in practice.
