For people going from one BB to another in 2Q/3Q, what type of offer would you expect to compensate for loss of expected bonus? Is the initial offer usually quite fair in this regard, or do you need to drive a hard bargain and demand consideration? I want to drive a bargain, but I am also very eager to leave and don't want to F things up.

You usually change to another BB AFTER you got your bonus.From what I read they don't usually compensate what you lost.
Disclaimer - never negotiated this myself, but here are a few wrinkles I have heard firsthand of other associate laterals getting: - Ask if there's any type of signing bonus given the deferred comp you're giving up - Ask if you can guarantee yourself in a certain bucket for your first year bonus - Try to get another year of title when you jump over
Well I have received a verbal communication... they are offering a 20% bump in base and said that they will budget a bonus for me that will be on par with my 2013 bonus. However they cannot put this down on contract as a signing bonus, so it is basically a gentleman's agreement. I imagine it should be solid?
I've seen a few people get burned on "gentleman's agreements." If it's not in writing, it doesn't exist.
