Hi all,
Recently started in IB in London, and wanted to hear people's thoughts about how they contribute to good causes while they are working.
Personally, I would love to try to volunteer once a week although understand that might not always be feasible. Of course I can and likely will try to find good options to make donations but frankly I will be trying to save what j can.
Not sure if too many people will have considered this sort of thing but would love to hear if anyone has any advice for getting involved with this sort of thing, partcularly on the junior level.
What you do depends on which area you want to be in; just work as much as you can and stack up as much money as possible. When you want to quit IB, you can either find a new role with a better work-life balance and start volunteering once you know your workload for sure.
Alternatively, you could quit IB once you have enough money for your whole life; then you can volunteer full-time or be a big donor.
If I were you, I would start scouting out the organizations or causes you care about most. That way, once you quit IB, you’ll know exactly which organizations you want to work with.
I pay basically 45% in taxes. That goes to helping the poor and paying cops and fireman and utility workers. How much more should we give? Half the shot we earn we give back to society.
