Chimpettes on the street
Just wondering how many women are truly passionate about Wall Street and how many of them truly love finance? Did they just happen to land a job or did they really pursued it? I spoke with a couple of women that work on the street and they never thought they would end up there they just "applied for and open position" and happened to land the job with a degree completely irrelevant.
Wow... really? Just apply "for and open position", I realize that's a typo but damn... I think most people agree that chimpettes who apply then do the "open position" usually get the job.
diversity recruitment woohoo
Yay for URMs
women definitely pursue it- who are you kidding? who were these women you spoke to? getting into finance has never historically been as hard as it is now; I reckon you can find both male and females of the same cohort who lucked out just as these ladies did.
Over here in the UK i know PLENTY of girls who have bagged Sales positions at GS, MS, UBS JPM etc...
Not so much for IBD, although the occasional one pops up. None of them look to stay beyond their 3 year analyst stint. What a waste.
sales is littered with chicks in the UK. I would personally argue you should just get high end escorts to do so sales, they would outperform the average female graduate at the sales job any day imho.
IBD not so much, but getting in for them is rly easy. you dont need to know maths, or have any kinda passion for finance, you just apply to some bitches in banking program and walk through the door.
does anyone know if the uk buyside has diversity program? Does bitches doing lbos without maths exist?
Ha!
I was in another industry and had friends in finance, they talked me into it, and now I can't imagine doing anything else. Now I live and breathe it, so yes, passionate.
As dorky as it sounds - I love finance. Really enjoyed my finance courses in undergrad b-school and was fortunate enough to gain exposure to PE early on via an internship.
Not sure if I would enjoy anything else... I originally thought about going into law...
I wasn't a fan of banking, but I really liked my group. I do like my current role in PE. I wouldn't say I'm truly 'passionate' about finance but I tend to develop a liking towards things that I'm good at / spend a lot of time on.
