Citi Corporate Banking Spring Week Assessment Centre

Hi guys,

I'm gonna be attending Citi's Corporate Banking Spring Week next week and the Assessment Centre for the Corporate Banking SA position is gonna be the week after that. The Assessment Centre will consist of 2x 30 min competency interviews and 1x 30 min technical interview.

What can I expect to be asked in the technical interview? I imagine it won't be as hard as the normal SA interview but I'd like to prepare thoroughly.

And maybe someone with Citi experience even knows what they like to ask in the competency interviews?

Thanks

CB is much more about financial statement analysis than IB. You should be able to get to levered and unlevered FCF, explain the differences and implications, and also explain how the statements link together. Credit analysis (your primary day to day job in CB) almost always comes down to 2 things: Leverage and Liquidity. You should be able to explain what those two things are and the implications thereof, and what sorts of covenants you would see governing them.

Also, understand what CB products are. Typically they are Revolving Credit Facilities (think of it as a massive credit card) and Term Loans (a "standard" loan - upfront cash to borrower, they pay interest, possibly some amortization, and then a bullet payment for the balance at maturity), but the products get more nuanced depending on the sector.

Understanding the above and being able to articulate your thoughts on them succinctly will put you in a better place technically than 95% of incoming CB candidates.
