Citi IB (London) - Best Groups

Would like to know which groups at Citi London are best regarded in terms of exit opps (PE), reputation and dealflow, with a view on culture and WLB as well.

Additional comments/insights on their Tech, MediaComms, Industrials, Power & Utilities groups would be much appreciated.

I see similar threads on this are either a bit outdated or NY-related.

Thank you very much in advance!

P&U have good deal flow, but very niche. Will be hard to exit to traditional PE but culture is decent.

Tech, alright, expect to grind long hours. Exit decent to MM PE, but hard to MF

M&C probs same as Tech, and pretty sweaty but not close to GS / JPM / MS M&C. Culture is alright.

Industrials, decent team, have seen people exit to UMM funds

Overall, all sector teams are decent, would pick base on your interest, doubt any will have any major advantage

Thanks for the accuracy!

You referred to all sector teams being decent, any different views on the M&A team for those aspects ?

Supposably had people from the US come to the London team, which made the team better. But do you really want to do M&A? Very admin heavy, not sure how much modelling the team does, think sector holds the pen on the model.

Financial sponsors (GAM) have a very good culture, works a lot with the levfin guys and does modelling over the LevFin team. Historically, exit have been mediocre as the team do less sponsor led acquisitions compared to other American BB

Look, in terms of exit Citi its a weird one. The teams are not as good as the other American BB and the average exit will be some mid-tier MM PE like Montagu or whatever. But every now and then good exits to places like CD&R happen; think in the past they came from M&A and healthcare, which the latter we know is a crap. So would recommend picking team based on interest and based on your own conversation you had with the team
