got a SA offer there too. when does team allocation start? what is the process like? i have no idea lol

Most Helpful

Citi London SA allocation process (as of SA 22):

- HR will send out the CVs of incoming candidates to the teams

- Select teams *may* independently contact some candidates to get their foot in the door first

- HR host team presentations (20 mins each, w/c 4th April)

- Each team hosts a Q&A session (w/c 11th and 18th April)

- HR send out a preferences survey after the Q&A process finishes, in which you rank your selection of teams from 1-8 (there were 14 + ones which hire separately such as FIG/RE which aren't available); this was delayed for us due to some technical issues (ended up being 5th May but should be earlier for you)

- HR send team confirmation 2 weeks after survey closes (this was 30th May for us)

---

Choosing a team (prestige):

What I would say is that you should go into the process open-minded and try to attend every session so you keep every option open. Be careful with how much weight you put on 'ranking' or 'prestige' as:

1) You tend to be listening to WSO voices and not an arbitrary way of measuring

2) All it takes is one senior to leave and it can completely change

3) Prevents you from following your own interests

Bonus point: transactions might fall into X sector, but doesn't necessarily mean that the X team led the transaction (could be product/country, etc)

---

Team-specific questions:

- TMT: split into 1) Tech and 2) Media and Comms (does mostly telecoms work)

- Industrials: split into 4 sub-verticals but can't remember them for the life of me

- Consumer works across Consumer, Retail and Luxury: could be anything from Selfridges, Phillips International, Unilever, i.e. don't just expect it to be 'brands that you've heard of' as it can be single-ingredient companies or tobacco (amazing team)

Let me know if any further questions. For a post from last year but sharing what we might have learnt through the process.

Did you guys get a “pre-offer form” before the verbal/written offer?

had an AC recently and just got one of those, trying to make sense of it…
