Citi SF Tech - How does group placement work, if any?
Hi Guys.
I'm trying to understand how Citi's Tech group in SF functions.
- Are summer analysts a generalist tech intern? Or do they have another round of interviews around January/February where incoming summer analysts are placed into specific tech groups? Like Tech ECM, Tech M&A, etc?
If any incoming summer analysts could chime in, I would really appreciate it.

ECM, DCM, and M&A are separate groups run out of NYC that each have people assigned to tech verticals. As an SA you will work on all types of tech deals and collaborate with members of each of those groups, but will not be placed into product groups if you signed a coverage offer (Tech IB SF).
Awesome, that's very helpful. As a follow-up, do you know what the majority of product services the SF does? For example, someone might sign a SF Tech offer, and maybe 80% of it is ECM and 20% M&A?
Very dependent on market conditions, but would expect at least 50% M&A (including strategic work and pitches)
