Citigroup Global Banking Associate - clarification on type of role

Can someone clarify if this is a standard IB Associate role, or if it's something different? It reads like it includes aspects of investment banking, but it also reads like it's a markets or internal business development/marketing type role. I have seen IB postings from Citigroup before and they were pretty typical/weren't described like this.

Our office is currently recruiting an Associate who will work closely with the Global Banking team and in certain cases with various North American industry teams to assist in the development of creative solutions for Corporate clients across the full spectrum of corporate finance products including acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, financial restructurings, underwriting and distributing domestic and Cross Border equity, debt and derivative securities. In addition the Associate will gain exposure to credit products, securitization, structured products, FX, asset based finance and transactional services.

Job Description: • Analyze and develop an understanding of the bank’s customers including their financial condition, risk profile, industry and business activities. • Lead and assist various product groups (Derivatives, Fixed Income, Project Finance, etc.) in producing marketing presentations. • Perform due diligence on financing and advisory transactions. • Develop and maintain industry knowledge and stay up-to-date on industry developments. • Regularly accompany Senior Bankers on client visits to assist in the origination of business and develop client interaction skills. • Build and interpret detailed financial models of customers. • Become fluent with respect to Citibank's credit policies and requirements. • Coordinate with credit support staff to ensure that annual reviews are completed as required. • Develop an understanding of interpreting legal documents. • Provide back up for Senior Bankers as required.

Job Requirements: • Recent or upcoming completion of a postgraduate degree in finance or equivalent. • At least 2 years of previous related experience. • Excellent sales and marketing potential. • Ability to build excellent customer/relationship management skills. • Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of financial, risk and structuring analysis. • Superior verbal and written communication skills. • Proficient computer and financial modeling skills. • Ability to simultaneously manage numerous tasks and deadlines. • Strong team player.

Cool - thanks, the whole 'respect to credit policies' and other markets stuff on FX, derivatives etc. seemed odd, usually other banks' post don't bother with such descriptions...

^ Yeah that's what I thought too when I read it... it's got elements to suggest it's IB, but a lot of 'soft items' were listed that I didn't think would be included at the Associate level.
