Class of 2008 Analyst Salaries

Now that most everyone has their offers for 2008 Analyst positions, I thought we could get a thread together with some numbers to replace the one that somehow disappeared yesterday.

Make sure to mention your type of firm (BB, MM, Boutique) and your city if you feel comfortable.

You should not consider the location when talking about money. Think about it from the firm's perspective: irrespective of in which state or country you work, firm still pays you the same dollars (euros, pounds, whatever currency) - with maybe slight difference related to various social taxes and payments which are being made by your employer.

So, as an employee, you may pretend to earn the same gross amount irrespective of your location and cost of living.

I disagree. Cost of living is vastly different between NYC and really anywhere else. Makes a big difference.

On $75k you can probably buy a decent little 2 bedroom condo in NC but you can barely afford to rent a shithole studio with a roommate in NYC. That is, of course, assuming you have a sizeable down payment.

ersearchGotta look at your compensation in terms of what the money buys. If you aren't trading it for goods or services it's just paper.

It's not even paper. It's 1s and zeros hanging out somewhere on a hard drive. They don't give you a wad of $100s on payday last I checked. Most direct deposit, so they don't even give out checks anymore. "We are lawyers! We sue people! Occasionally, we get aggressive and garnish wages, but WE DO NOT ABDUCT!" -Boston Legal-
