Coffee Chat/Informal Call Nightmare
Current IB analyst looking for a lateral position, and have been having some informal calls and coffee chats as people respond. Most are great and the conversation flows however there are some that the other person is just so dry and the convo lasts literally 2 mins.
For me the one that went worst was with a job posting for a group I was really interested in, but the VP I spoke too literally said two words the whole call.
Any tips, questions how to navigate these calls and calls in general?
these calls should give you a pretty good picture of what culture is like within a group. Do you really want to work in a group where the VP only said 2 words on the call?
What could those two words have been? “Sorry no?”
More than two words, but could not carry any conversation at all
>but the VP I spoke too literally said two words the whole call.

maybe he wanted you to fuck off because you don't know what "literally" means
If this keeps happening, could it be you or the questions you’re asking? Not necessarily saying this is definitely you, but something I’d reflect on
I’m a pretty social and easy to talk to person, this def is a rare occasion, just so happened the few times it has happened, one there was an open position I really wanted.
