Cold Calling Without Email Response

Do you think cold calling without receiving a response through cold emailing first is a good idea? I'm thinking of perhaps cold calling some MDs during lunch times but I didn't receive a response through email...I wonder if they would be turned off by that.

Email some analysts/associates before you make that move. If they like you then they'll pass you on to their VP/MD and if you reach out to the VP/MD first then they may very well send you to speak with the analyst/associate anyways before getting the go-ahead. I've seen guys get hired by rubbing shoulders with senior bankers but I've seen way more get hired by networking with junior guys and then allowing the junior guys to get the process rolling from that point. Also, don't contact multiple analysts at the same firm (especially in the same group), you'd be surprised how close some desks are and bankers love to talk.

I understand your advice but obviously you want to contact multiple people at a firm, would you suggest just contacting one analyst from each BB per email set? Then repeat like in a week or two with another group?
