cold emailing every associate at a firm
An older friend of mine told me he would cold email every associate at a firm when he applied there. He would write unique emails to each one, but would this be frowned upon? please let me know if this would be considered innapropriate, or would they not even notice

I accidentally emailed two analysts in the same team and got flamed..
obviously this is overkill, but if someone goes to a complete non-target with 0 alumni base, why don't we provide with some suggestions as to what to do instead of cold-emailing every associate?
