College Freshman Looking to Explore Options

Hey everyone,

I'm currently a college freshman at a target school for pretty much every aspect of finance. I'm trying to prepare for a career in finance, maybe IB and am looking to explore some options.
#1, I'm looking into gaining some experience in my fall semester for club applications in the spring since I heard that it's important to not include high school experience when applying in the spring and I'm wondering if anyone has any information on what I can do to build experience whether it be to look for an online internship or something else. I'm currently trying to get into a finance club so I should be covered on that.
#2, I'm trying to get a summer internship after my freshman year and am wondering a) where to look to find one whether it be a local boutique firm, on handshake or somewhere else, and b) what resources I should use and knowledge I should obtain to get one whether it be basic excel skills, learning to build a dcf, or any of the other WSO or BIWS programs online.
Thank you in advance for any advice!
