Coming back as an associate after leaving as an analyst?

AN2 at an RBC / WF / JEFF

I’m leaving at the end of this year to join an AI startup.

Salary is $120K no bonus but upside is huge with 2% equity. If I try and come back to IB after 2-3 years will this be a detriment to my story?

Also would I likely be able to apply for associate roles? Or will they make me a senior analyst.

Can speak to this a bit. Left for Corp Dev at the tail end of my AN2. Did corp dev for 2.5 years then came back to banking. They had me start as a 3rd analyst (off-cycle) with the promise (verbal) to accelerate promotion to associate and beyond if i knocked it out the park. After ~6 months in i got my associate offer and will be effective soon.

High chance you’ll have to do the same, but you can def gun for associate. I had other associate interviews in the pipeline, but i liked this firm and went with it
