Commuting for SA/ SA hours
I currently live in Queens, where it would take me around a 45min - 1 hr commute if we are in person next Summer. Would it be worth it/realistic to stay at home and commute instead of getting a dorm or an airbnb for the summer to save money?
Very dependent on the bank you are interning at and the specific team. Still, when/if you get some execution it's going to be quite bad imo. Definitely doable for a summer stint, just make sure it doesn't make you lose a potential offer
Had a friend who commuted from NJ (about an hour each way) to an IBD internship at a BB. The group was 'chill' but he still got wrecked nonetheless. He was completely sleep deprived and stressed out all the time about his commute. If you know for a fact that you won't be working tough hours, it's fine. If there is some ambiguity about that, I would recommend living near the firm - especially since rents have decreased by ~50% in Manhattan due to COVID (although that may change by the summer).
