Competition for summer analyst postions will be brutal

I am amazed that many of us think that this year is going to be easy to get summer positions. While browsing I found this:

This kid now attends Harvard on a full academic scholarship and is the elected Political Action Chair of the Harvard Black Students Association as well as a member of The Crimson's Editorial Board. Hayward will pursue a degree in Astrophysics, Economics, or Government.

After two summers while in High School interning in the private sector at Morgan Stanley, he is excited to move into the public arena.

Yeah this is ridiculous, it even says that "he is excited to move into the public arena", which in my opinion implies that he could care less about a SA role at a BB.

To answer your question, however, yes it is a brutal environment for SA hopefuls. But a more pertinent article exhibiting this would have been something like this: http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2009/01/tight_employment_market_floods…

"Political Action Chair of the Harvard Black Students Association as well as a member of The Crimson's Editorial Board."

Yeah he interned at ms,,, but his interests are clearly political

What's this crap about "Hayward will pursue a degree in Astrophysics, Economics, or Government."

He clearly isn't that smart and fairly immature. It's obvious the kid has strong social skills but it also looks like he interned at ms because it was cool to do so and he had the network to get that position,

I think that his minority is trying too hard to make their future leaders look like stars..

Let that kid live his own life for god's sake.

I'm tempted to question your reading comprehension skills, but you did change a quote from the article to include the (accurate) information that his MS internships were in high school. That said, did you miss the part in the (undated) article which makes it incongruous with your title? To wit:

The article: "...This summer he is interning in Senator Barack Obama's Washington D.C. Office."

You wrote: "...I am amazed that many of us think that this year is going to be easy to get summer positions."

Written in the present tense, we must assume the article was published during some summer during which Barack Obama would be described as a senator; that is to say, it is at least 6 months old, and as such bears no pretense of relevancy to this year's recruiting prospects. Plus, if the kid went to go work for a socialist he clearly does not care about finance.

I am really not sure why you posted this. Whilst I would like to hope all of your posts are satirical, I am scared that they might not be.
