Contacting head of Industry group, need advice

So my former MD offered to let me contact a Vice Chairman of a BB's industry group. I'm a little unsure how to word this and would love some guidance to best get a response from him.

The guy runs the group and I'm sure he doesn't have time to talk to a desperate undergrad. What should I ask? - If he can get me in touch with a VP/senior associate or maybe an MD? - insight/advice about the industry - a few minutes of his time on a phone call (he is in NY i live in the south

I was thinking just to ask for a few minute phone call (picking his brain for a bit) and maybe during the phone call ask if he can get me in touch with any VP/senior associates who are in charge with recruiting who can give me some good advice. Does that sound right or is it being to pushy?

I do not want to screw this up, this way be my only chance.

PM me if you want more details.

Please help, thanks.
