Corp Banking - Portfolio Mgmt at Top Group or Corp Banking Front Office at BB?

I think you may work at BMO? I came from a similar situation that you did and would recommend you transfer. The modeling isn't that hard, and your BB bank will open up doors into move to the US, which offers much higher comp ceiling and bigger financings. Plus BMO Origination is a sweat shop and pays below market. Feel free to PM me if you want more info.

The comp difference is considerable and you shouldn't worry too much about what your current MD's think. It's not personal and they should understand. Regarding IG and non-IG, I personally prefer a combination, but both have interesting elements. The non-IG credit risk is a bit hairier which is a bit more interesting, but IG can be interesting too because you can usually offer them a wider variety of products.

Would you say the comp + brand name is > the sweaty learning experience at current bank (I'd still have to break into origination to even get started on that)?
