Corporate Bankers- what type of modeling do you do on a daily basis?
I understand that a lot of CB is relationship management as you rise up in the ranks, but as analysts and associates I've heard it's more technical. What type of modeling are you doing in a normal day? and how much of it is template based and how much are you building from scratch?
Thanks!
Annual Reviews on Existing Borrowers where Model was done before: Take company provided model, update Commodity price forecast, exchange rate forecast, roll up numbers to latest quarterly actuals, make sure it all flows.
Upsizes/New Deals with no model done before: take company provided model, engineer does DD and provides technical opinion on adjustments needed, build an overlay model tab where you synthesize the company model's projections for the F/S items that you use to get your NPV. Overlay typically has a management case, base case, and down-side case. Show all credit metrics on all cases and effect on covenants and triggers. Then build another tab that is a summary of the summary, for display purposes in your credit submission.
