Corporate Banking Exit Opportunities
I’ve done some reading and have come to the conclusion that there are not a lot of exit opportunities for corporate banking. I am assuming it is mostly a function of not having a lot of tangible skills that you learn in a corporate banking role. I was wondering if you guys had any insight there?
I am thinking that it makes more sense to try to get into IB for my long term career prospects. I am not sure exactly where I want to end up long term yet.
I am currently interning for a middle market bank ( think Truist, Fifth Third, Regions) in a health care corporate banking under writing group in a major southern city (think Charlotte, Nashville, Atlanta).
How would the exit opportunities differ for someone in more of a corporate banking coverage (prospecting etc) role differ from underwriting?
I go to a top 20 ACC public school double majoring in accounting and finance. But the problem is I have less than a 3.4 GPA. Other than that I do have a really strong resume when it comes to work history and extra circulars.
I am leaning towards the idea that maybe going into the military might make the most sense and then trying to go to a top MBA after. Or if I score good enough on the GMAT to apply to a good MSF.
