Corporate Strategy Intern -> FT IBD?
Hi,
I read a lot of threads about people wanting to move from IB to corp strat, however, my situation is somewhat the opposite.
I am a rising senior interning in corp strat at a F500, wanting to break into IBD FT. Is corp strat considered to be "competitive" experience when recruiting for IBD? Unfortunately, corp dev (internal M&A) is a separate department at my company so my experience is much more related to consulting than banking.
A bit of background on myself, if it matters:
- attending a top target school
- Ok grades (3.5 to 3.7GPA)

Yes, you should be competitive for getting interviews, assuming all else checks out. You just spin it that you realized IB was for you after trying strategy. Strategy groups hire equivalent talent to IB so you should be fine. Do everything you can to bump up your finance profile on your resume so it doesn't look like you are randomly applying.

I am a rising a Senior in college. I am working this summer as in intern in a Fortune 500 Corporate Strategy Dept. My experiences this summer have made me realize that I want to start full time in a bank to develop my technical skills before possibly return to corporate finance. How difficult will it be for me find a full time analyst role if I did not intern at a bank? An advise on best practices to make the transition?

What kind of technical skills? I feel like corporate strategy really engages a lot of "technical" skills like modeling and critical thinking (analysis). All my intern did was build models and research markets this summer, she'll be ready for any corporate finance position when she graduates.
It will be difficult to apply to banks who've accepted a lot of their summer interns for FT (you'll have to scope that out). Best thing to do is just network well and display your acquired knowledge from your CS internship.

Hello, I am interning this summer in Corporate Strag. in a F100 as a rising senior undergrad from a Non-Target. I have been exposed to a little bit of the deal process but I have not done an of the modeling myself.
Am I screwed for IB FT since I didnt get the modeling experience or deal exposure I thought i would get from this internship?
I just dont wanna waste too much time when I should be spending my time looking into other industries
