Could You See FT Partners Being Acquired by an EB such as Centerview?
I was reading the Wall Street Journal article about FT partners the other day and was thinking that they could be a prime target for an EB trying to expand into FinTech, especially given how they are the only player in the space and make a insane amount of money on fees. I could see an EB like Centerview or PWP acquiring them. The Wall Street Journal estimates that FT partners is valued at $2 billion.
Eh- feels like FT partners is one of those banks that solely does well off its founders abilities, which makes it a bad M&A target because he only works as hard as he does because he’s getting paid for it. Doesn’t seem like there’s enough talent there across the board that would be worth buying out. Way cheaper to poach the best fintech MD from another shop
