Coverage group exit

Interviewing for a coverage group at a top BB. Really interested in the industry and would love to work for some of their clients in an internal role as an exit. I know junior bankers get no client interaction, so do you think this would be possible? Do bankers ever get approached by headhunters trying to fill non-PE or HF roles?

The only way you won't have client interaction from a role at a top BB is if you are a dumpster fire of a person and/or financial analyst. And in that case you have bigger problems. People leave analyst roles after 2-3 years for corporate jobs all the time. Sometimes headhunters find you, sometimes it's networking, sometimes your client interaction will be with someone who might be far down the org chart from the CEO but senior enough to recommend you for a role the client needs to fill.

You can probably figure this out on your own, but well placed hints and unsolicited disclosures made to clients about what you want to do after your analyst stint will likely open some doors for you. And you don't really need to hide it. The senior bankers you work with benefit from having people they know / alumni of their group in finance/corp dev roles at their clients.
