Creating a Plan for London IB SA27
Hello all,
I wanted to see if any people who have previously successfully recruited could offer any advice on what to do now until recruiting begins to kick off towards the end of summer. I am at a target university (Oxbridge), struck out on Springs (no IB Springs), and my main goal is to recruit for IB or PE if possible.
I am refining my CV, and have gained relevant experience through societies. Recently, I actively started consolidating my technical knowledge for IB, but this is all I'm doing currently. I think I've, unfortunately, missed the boat for any informal internship this summer - though, I'll try see if I can get anything super late. I have kept a rough idea of timeline of when firms open based on last year's openings to try not get caught out. I am also reaching out to people who have successfully recruited to get a better idea on any advice in my plan, too.
Generally, I feel a little unsure about what else I need to plan for everything else to feel ready enough to recruit for SA27. What else would people recommend doing if you were in my position?
(And, a long shot, but does anyone mind reviewing my CV?)
Chances of IB let alone PE are very low without any relevant past internship. Societies are not really a differentiator unless you are senior at a large society. Best thing to do is try and get any experience you can
Thanks! Will try
lol kid do you know what you are talking about. It is for SA not FT. Apollo basically exclusively hires from Oxbridge for their SA from OCR. Every year at the BBs there are Oxbridge kids studying random subjects doing summers.
Don't speak on what you don't know.
Don't worry about it. No need for springs or prior summers. You will likely get screened for interviews (if not invited to networking sessions), just smash the interviews and you are cool.
I went through last summer and got a top 5 BB. Most people in the 6 ACs I did (excluding DEI) had 2-3 internships, either highly relevant to the job or at a well-known firm.
Yes Oxbridge opens up a few more doors (I know some going on right now that are oxbridge exclusive), but it does not help enough to just get interviews because of the university.
You got to be honest with whoever posted; no experience will make it very hard
(FYI in my AC's, I only met 3 Oxbridge people in total compared to 10+ from multiple other places)
thanks for your wise perspective prospect
Did you even read the full thread ? Or too info to process at once for you
Technical knowledge is only half, if that, of interviews. Do not overlook the rest. Many kids fail in the rest.
What is the rest?
I'll let you figure that out
Fit/likeability/social skills etc
