Credit Rating firms internships before Junior Year SA IB?
Hi there,
I interned at a F500 financial firm during my freshman year where I got a-lot of exposure to the finance field through weekly presentations of the markets, creation of reports on the emerging market, and some other things. Overall, I came out of the internship much more knowledgable on the finance field
Instead of doing a PWM internship at BB, I wanted to consider interning once again in another division at one of the credit rating agencies(S&P, Moody's), doing analyst work and covering the commodities sector. I feel as though this summer analyst internship would give me better work that would be relevant to an IB job compared to a PWM.
What do you guys think? A good opportunity or will I be disadvantaged compared to others? I am also currently looking at cold-emailing boutique firms and see what I can get with that.
Thanks again!
It doesn't really matter what you do. Do something useful, learn something, and just make sure you're able to talk about your experience and what you did.
I spent two summer at a F500 tech company before landing my IBD SA gig for this summer.
Thank you for your suggestion. So what would you do in my shoes with two of these options at hand?
Whichever you will enjoy the most. Whichever will allow you to work on things that would be interesting to talk about during interviews.
