So, I recently interviewed at a bulge bracket bank for an associate position. I would be a lateral hire. I met with one person, the staffing VP. He grilled me for about an hour on technicals, which was somewhat surprising. I didn't think I made much of an impression.
I sent a thank you e-mail, and got a response the next day. He thanked me for coming in and said he'd reach out to me if they decide to hire from outside the bank.
Is that just an polite way of rejecting me? Thanks!
