Current State of M&A Markets

What are you guys currently experiencing  with regards to M&A volumes/activity?

  • Current level of activity compared to recent years
  • Deal quality
  • Near term outlook into hiring/RIFs and what your bank has experienced recently

I will start. M&A activity has been pretty light over the last year. Activity and deal quality is down substantially. Been experiencing RIFs quarterly. Probably over 50% of folks working in M&A at my firm have been cut across all levels. With interest rates looking like they can remain highly unfavorable for some time, I don’t see M&A picking up over the next 12 months.

What say you?
