Curriculum suggestions?

Hello,

I am the VP of Capital Market Research at my universities business/financial mathematics association. I am responsible for coming up with a curriculum for this coming years club members.

My universities first finance focused course isn't until 3rd year of studies so most students have no clue. Our goal is to educate our club members and create an image for ourselves as a finance club. The educational goal is to teach basic finance topics and introduce some valuation and financial modelling by the end. BTW PDF report will need to accompany every educational presentation, which will go on our website.

So the topics I have come up with are as follows:

1. Introduce stocks & bonds
a. Fixed Income Securities: Types, features, reading bond quotes/ratings
b. Fixed Income Securities: trading and pricing
c. Equity Securities: types, features, margin and short selling

2. Brief introduction to derivatives: options, forwards and futures
a. briefly teach in-the-money options vs out of money; will need this for comps analysis

3. Accounting basics & Capital Structure
a. Basic overview as most people know accounting basics
b. More focus will be on introducing and teaching how to find metrics such as enterprise value, equity value, free cash flow
c. Ratio analysis will also be introduced under the accounting series

4. Normalizing Financial Statement
a. Teach what to normalize on financial statement and where to find information
b. Teach how to read 10-Qs and similar reports

6. Value investing series

7. Comparable company analysis
a. Go through a full model.
b. I think it's not too much to do or teach.

8. DCF model
a. Simple dcf model to teach basic idea.

Any suggestions and thoughts as to what changes should be made to these topics and the path we are following are very much appreciated!

Thanks all.
