Dealing with annoying co-worker (AN)?

Monkeys I need some advice. I’ve enjoyed the fuck out of this long weekend especially because I only got a few requests from my team here and there and didn’t have to deal with this annoying shithead of a coworker in my analyst class and same group. But play time ends tomorrow and this is the only place I can go for tangible advice.

This one analyst on my team is constantly sucking off every upper level person on the team and it’s really annoying. Any time we have a learning zoom call he dominates the entire conversation and takes up every chance to the speak. If the associate asks a question he immediately answers, and if the associates asks for questions he immediately takes up all the remaining time to ask his questions. This wouldn’t be annoying if it didn’t completely fuck the learning for the rest of us. He stays on every single night until 1 AM even if it’s a easy night, potentially making the rest of us look bad if we hop off, and responds to every single group IM/email literally instantaneously to take any work and show “availability”. Any time the other analysts ask for help on something in an email chain or IM he will respond saying he already knows how to do X and will show us. He will agree with 100% of anything a senior level person says about non-work related things, which is annoying for the rest of us because we’re normal humans with independent thoughts.

Any time you try to shoot the shit with him he gets defensive and makes it a competitive thing. If you talk about sports, he is or his school is better or has to explain why he’s not. If you talk about something banking related he immediately takes over the convo and brings up how good his background is. If you bring up an exit opp you’re interested in, he says it’s not even worth pursuing because you aren’t strong enough for it yet (no fucking shit bro we just started), etc.

Now to clarify - I’m glad I have a really over-zealous hardworking fellow analyst. Seriously, I am, because it reduces the work load for the rest of us and it’s good to have a tank on the team. But his shit eating posturing and mannerisms just gets on my nerves, so anyone have any advice for keeping cool and not getting annoyed by a shithead coworker?
