After you work hard and get the return offer to your group at the end of summer, you can recruit full-time through OCR and land a top BB; happens all the time.

Honestly would not worry about trying to network your way in to another place during your SA stint, but I would keep in touch with your contacts at these other BBs. After doing your time you can send your contacts at x BB an e-mail and say "Hey, would you like to grab coffee with me, I'd love to hear more about x firm or x group". Might get some accelerated interviews if they pass your details along to HR, etc.

If you're already in a top group at any BB, don't stress over getting something "better" for FT. Just go through the FT process and see what you get. In the end, what matters most is that you like your team and firm culture, not just the brand name.

Not sure why I got all the monkey shit when users on this board are the ones who put this crap in my head and constantly tell me to try to lateral from a 'low-tier BB'.....

Anyways, thanks nomodelsnobottles for your comment. I think that is a good idea. I was just wondering because lets say best case scenario I earn a return offer, I heard they give you a very very tight deadline to the point where you don't have much time to recruit elsewhere. What do you suggest in that case?

Also, I am a non-target and do not have 'OCR.' I agree with your last comment about the BB group, but the majority of people on WSO do not, which is why I even posted this in the first place..

If you have a good connect at a top BB then you are in a great spot (If that is where you would want to wind up). You will probably move into your apartment a few days before you start working, I would try to reach out and meet up real quick with your contact and just ask for any general tips and show some interest about his firm (obviously emphasize how excited you are to work wherever your SA is and say you want to have the best possible showing. Shoot him another email towards the end of July / August, you will have a good sense of return offer or not and can try and shoot for an accelerated process. If you get an offer from your SA you are gonna have 2 weeks to decide, you need to get into one of the first interview rounds if you want to squeeze that in before your offer explodes.
