Thanks for the response. Is it really that luck based? I would've hoped there was a strong element of merit to it in terms of filtering people through uni, internships, extracurriculars etc?
I mean in terms of merit, will help you in the actual interviews / conversion interviews. There isnt a strong elemnet of merit unfortuantely they don't expect people to have that kind of experience yet.
When comes summer internship applications, there is more merit to it especially when it comes to interviews e.g you'll get asked technical questions. but the screening process is still quite random in my opinion.
