I'm interested in the answer to this too, but as far as I'm aware they're quite ad hoc, in which case it's just about networking. You could always call HR at these banks and ask if there are any opportunities, which is something I'll be trying soon, but equally just need to network and then ask them if they have any off-cycle internships (or can make it up) going.

Sure, but to be honest I'm in the same boat as you and don't know that much more it seems.

I think just a case of networking and talking to people at the bank to be told about these kinds of positions. It's when networking becomes more useful in the UK at this stage, as generally it's less important otherwise in the US (from what I gather).
