desperately need help

I really need some help on this.

About two weeks ago interviewed with a BB for their summer program in Asia. I got a call the day after the interview from the HR lady, who informed me to hang tight because they didn't get the chance to get through each candidates and would get back to me within two weeks.

It's the 2nd week now and I emailed the HR lady and she said they didn't get a "full view of my candidacy yet".

I know that there are 13 spots and there were maybe 20 candidates. Do you think I am on the waitlist, because I figure if i really sucked then they would just reject me right the way? And if so, what are the chances that some of the 13 people would reject the offer?

Thanks a ton!

It's going to be nearly impossible for anyone to calculate those odds very accurately, because it's going to be random luck. But yes, it sounds like you definitely weren't rejected out of hand. It also sounds like you weren't among the top candidates either. So just hang tight, have a martini, and relax.

Just kidding, why do people say to relax? There's no possible way you can relax at this point, but you still have to wait anyway. It sucks, but at least you know you are a competitive candidate.

Couple things you could do. Went through the Asia summer recruitment myself, so I know what the wait game is like. It's important to maintain a good relationship with the HR recruiter. Since the bulk of your communication is going to be through email, make sure you don't clutter your email with random stuff, and always thank them for their help.

HR is your best friend when it comes to recruiting, at least from my experience the past couple months. Keep them in the know of what's going with your life, and if you have the contacts of the people you interviewed with, you can try emailing them and asking for their advice on what to do.

Your interviewer's notes are crucial to your summer analyst position, and if they like you, they'll let HR know. I say you email your interviewers, thank them for taking the time out to help you out, and ask them what to do. From what I understand, the analysts/associates/VPs who interview you usually do it because of 1.) they want to help you 2.) even if they don't care about you, it comes with the job. Don't flood them with emails though, as this will piss them off.

I think i'm getting off track, so to close, email HR/interviewers consistently but not constantly. And if I may ask, what BB are you referring to?
