Do analysts pick resumes?
I pissed someone off who works at a ibank I want to apply to. I'm owning up to it now but I'm sure that guy will throw my resume out if he reads it. Does anyone know about the process? He's at Citi

analysts usually are involved in the resume screening process associates and VP handle the interviewing

there are times where if u network with a VP or above, they'll put you in and no analyst disagrees with anyone above associate level.
when i was on the recruiting side, i rmr some kid had a bit of an inferiority complex and came off really cocky in his emails where he was demanding informationals and interviews.
he ticked off one analyst, his email got forwarded around, he never got an interview.
it depends on how u pissed off the analyst. if u missed a meeting, you can apologize. but if u were a tool like the kid i mentioned above, just don't make that mistake with other firms.
Analysts are definitely involved. Our resume deadline is in a few days, and I and one other analyst from my school are charged with narrowing the ~100 resumes to 10 to be interviewed on campus.
It also underscores how random your life is. You never know when you're in school what classmate, what group member, will be in a position next year to decide your fate. We cut a kid just because I was in a group with him in school and he didn't pull his weight. That's the brakes I guess.
analysts usually sort through resumes from their school because they know the activities/classes/etc that really mean something. associates and more senior people have no desire to sort through hundreds of resumes (imagine how big the stacks are these days). and even analysts only spend 30 sec max looking at them
never wise to make enemies in business - finance is a pretty small community. reconcile with this guy
along the lines of what he was saying, you'll find that every industry is pretty small. everyone knows each other. you should be on good terms with anyone.

Thanks, sucks to be me. How about for Asia offices or for consulting?
I have done 3 resume review sessions in the last week. Yes, analysts are the main people that 'weed out' / 'narrow' the initial list for on-campus interviews. What school do you goto?
I got into one superday because an analyst had his roommate help him screen who happened to know me. so yes, analysts pick and so do their roommates.
