Do any Interns Care/Learn at their Internship if so to what extent?

I see that everyone here is so worried about how to act, work the system, and the strategies to landing a job/internship I was wondering if anyone actually learned anything and if so, what did you learn? After all that is why you are there.

I learned a ton from my internship. I had a relatively small working knowledge about the commodities space and the various associated products coming into my internship and will be leaving with more than I expected. Also, I learned quite a bit about commodities fundamentals, hedging using commodities, synthetic commodities. So, yes, I conclude I actually did learn something this summer.

I'd say I've learned a good bit but probably not as much as I was expecting. I was almost looking forward to showing up and being up to my ears in information that I was completely unfamiliar with and getting a chance to absorb it all...unfortunately they sort of exposed me in small doses and it's been a slower and less thorough experience than I wanted. What I've picked is a lot about ABS, CDOs, CDS, etc. but especially given the crises with these products, I'd have expected to learn a lot more (after all, my experience has always been that only in a crisis do you really see all the hidden facets of anything). All said though it was a good experience and I like to think I put more stress on learning and performing well than on making sure my shirt's stripes weren't too wide and that I was chummy but not too chummy with my MD.
