Do banks actually ask to see my diploma before I start full time??

So.. I have a question:

I will graduate in late May and I have an offer in IB and will start working full time there in July as an analyst, I was wondering before I officially start, will my bank ask me to scan my diploma or actually bring it to them so that so they can see and know I graduated and actually obtained such a degree outlined on my resume? Or just submit my end of semester transcript is fine? They have already asked my current transcript before I went in for the final round back in Dec.

I have already finished my background check and drug test and so forth currently. But I am not sure how the process works and I am supposed to start training in June.

Thanks!

Thanks - but how could they know for sure that you actually graduated? You tell them you graduated and then that's it? I would think they would want some sort of proof.

Typically there is a waiver the candidate signs to allow the employer or a contracted third-party to go perform financial, criminal, educational background checks. Whether they'll actually do all of these or how they'll do it won't be disclosed to the candidate. The only "feedback" for these checks is when your references tell you they were called up/emailed. In some countries (specifically some EU countries), the application forms already ask for "supporting documents" you can upload. Most people use this for the diploma/degree certificate where common (i.e. Germany, CH, ..)

Really??

I never knew it was ongoing, interesting!

I thought it was finished in Jan - that's when my contacts and references were called and I also got an email from HR saying that I passed my background check and then they wired me money (a signing bonus)

So I am confused.

By the sounds of it your background check is over. Are offers in the US contingent on a certain GPA / degree award? In London, it is normal for your offer to be contingent on a certain result (A 2:1, typically the equivalent of a 3.5 GPA). As offers are contingent on it, you wont pass your background check until you can provide proof you achieved a 2:1, albeit other users experience may differ.
