Side question, don't mean to derail the thread, but what's the SAT score threshold for good enough? It's not like I can do anything about my score if it's not good enough lol, but it's just been nagging me.

It will rarely come up in interviews. I went through many processes for SA and was only asked once about my score. Funny enough, I had a pretty low score and I still got the offer from that bank and accepted. If your score is really low just leave it off of your resume and applications, which most people do regardless.

1500+. It only helps if you're a non target though. I felt my interviewers thought I was not retarded having a good score on my resume, and I got some compliments about it during recruiting. It's dumb that they still care about a high school test, but it can make them feel that your intelligence is on par with target kids.

I’ll take the other side of this and say a few things:

Unless they ask you to login to your pre undergrad act/sat account, pretty hard to verify. It’s not like your colleges’ records will have it, so decently confident you could lie and they either wouldn’t check or you could wiesel out of them verifying it. Your biggest risk is you somehow slipping up.

That said, it’s a really dangerous game lying about something like this. It’s never the only lie and there is a very quick rationalization that leads to insider trading, or another unethical behavior that can wreck your entire career. It’s sorta like cheating in school—can you cheat on a single assignment and be fine? Probably. But if you do shit like this enough you risk an outcome that is so terrible you never recover professionally, so you really shouldn’t do it. There’s a risk-reward analysis to be done on this and it’s very obviously more risky than the marginal reward of appearing like your test score is slightly better. Don’t do it. In the words of buffet,

“it takes 20 years to build a reputation and 5 minutes to ruin it. If you think about that you’ll do things differently”

this is what I was thinking, can’t you only send your score to a college through the portal?

I agree on the path to rationalization part. It's the same rationalization for cheating on somebody, if you've done it once you can somehow create the mental pathway to do it again.

I have a very hard-line opinion on cheating and lying for that reason. I have surely missed points, gotten worse grades, etc. because of it but it is a much better life.

My grandpa always told me never to associate with liars, cheaters, or thieves. Why should I be something I wouldn't be comfortable surrounding myself with?

Pretty sure the standardized test scores you submit to your school show up on a transcript (at least they did on my unofficial one that I submitted during the BG check). This would probably be the most likely route to catch the lie

Maybe it’s a school thing—that surprises me though. The school doesn’t really hold that record, like your classes are your record, pre-acceptance materials are like having your high school gpa on your college transcript—doesn’t track to me. Also, I know my target uni def didn’t because this argument came up with a friend of mine when recruiting and he couldn’t find proof of his act score, so he was trying to find his old account and eventually didn’t lol.

A friend claimed a 35 when they only had a 33. I've been trying to convince her she'll be fine for her SA and that they don't check. But maybe they do? This is at a mid-lower EB if that matters

tf is a mid-lower EB? PWP? If that's the best your "friend" got as a girl, then no wonder she's stupid enough to have to lie about her mediocre ACT score
