Do I have shot at CVP for lateral?
Coming from a MM like RJ/ PS / Truist type firm, do I have a shot at CVP as lateral associate? Also, coming from a non target.

No
TBH no - I was at one of the firms listed above in one of the better groups and EB recruiting was not fun. Ended up at MOE/LAZ/PWP but also had several BB offers (recruiting last year was a free-for-all). Helped that my old group punches above it's weight (HC)
idk why people say no. i found a few associates that literally came from truist, etc. does it matter tho? just apply anyways smh
Lateral to Centerview from Truist? No way. I couldn’t find it on LinkedIn.
I mean always network and apply, but you should cast a wider net as CVP is a very competitive lateral position and they have pick of the litter, mostly from BB/EB.
Would the opinion be different if it was a WB/Baird type MM?
According to LinkedIn, no. But ppl in Blair usually don’t lateral
At Blair/Baird and had a headhunter chasing me for a while for an analyst opening at CVP. Didn’t pursue because no one wants to leave these two banks, but at least the door is at lease semi-open if I had the recruiter reach out to me a few times on it
Why dont ppl wanna leave these 2 banks? Genuinely curious
I wouldn’t write yourself off and definitely think this could be possible, particularly if you have strong group-specific experience. I went from a 10-person boutique to an EB and the only thing people cared about was relevant experience and ability to hit the ground running.
May not be remembering correctly, but I think SG handles laterals for CVP so might be worth trying to set up an intro call if you’ve got your story down.

yes that is possible
I know people at RBC that got into final rounds at CVP and this was pre-pandemic. They didn't get the offer but at that point, it's not about whether they came from BAML or RBC but how well they did at the interview.
