Do I need to proactively disclose that I was laid off during the interview?

If so, would appreciate it your advice on how to frame it. The fact is that our department is letting go of people who joined during last twelve months because of the macro downturn. I have been worried about this since 2H22 and would like to search for new opportunities for a while because our team is overstaffed.

I’m still in the noticing period & on the payroll and got an interview within the same industry recently. Wondering how should I respond if the interviewer asked “why do you want a new job or why do you want to leave your current job?”

Obviously I will be honest about my case but also concerned about if layoff could hurt my candidacy.

Thanks!
