Do I Win Diversity Points For Faking Being a Homo on Job Applications? (Particularly for Citi?)
So after 2 years in LBO world and not having a great experience I'm going back to IB (happy to discuss why if anyone is interested but spoiler alert, it has nothing to do with PE being a bad career and everything to do with me being bad at PE).
I'm mostly going through networking with my peers or former coworkers to get interviews but in a few instances I've been asked to also complete an online application on the respective banks' websites. I notice in the diversity section they screen for race, veteran status, disability status and now sexual orientation at most places. I'm definitely not black, a veteran or disabled, but I can be gay for pay. In a certain sense it wouldn't be an out and out lie - I would definitely suck a cock to get this job. So if push comes to shove and somebody makes me prove it, I will have no problem unwrapping an uncircumsized jewish schlong hammer and performing the ritual.
My only question though is does this willingness to engage in biblically condemned homosexual acts actually win me anything? I have heard that people in NYC are sharks (I'm from the Bible Belt) and I could see them setting me up to be gay and then not giving the job anyway. Do I get diversity candidate status for this moral ambiguity or is it not helpful?
Again, I'm from the deep south and don't really get the memo on how all of this liberal, city, coastal elite political correctness stuff works so please forgive if I've said anything silly or inappropriate.
Odd thing to post online
Yes but it doesn't do much because everyone already has your idea. For example I recently read an article that like 40% of brown university students are LGBT on their applications or something. Personally I always put down non-binary, transgender and gay whenever I can. No one is ever gonna ask you about it
If everyone’s playing juiced, you have to as well.
On a real note though - you’re at the point in your career where you aren’t being hired as a part of a massive class. It’s fighting for a single seat. HR isn’t as heavily involved as your potential team is so there aren’t BS quotas you’d need to hit.
I’ve found that most people working in high finance are normal dudes (ie. They are at most neutral to the LGBTQ+ community, but let’s be real here they, like many, closet their real thoughts on how they feel about the alphabet soup community). Most people find these mega libs annoying - but if you have to get through an HR screen maybe it’s beneficial. Just reach out to the hiring team directly and express interest.
to be fair, i'm a current student here and that 40% statistic may not be too far from the true %
This is outstanding writing, bravo
Based on the most helpful WSO content, it seems that there are differing opinions on whether claiming a different sexual orientation on job applications can be beneficial. Some users suggest that it might help get past initial HR screenings, while others argue that it may not make a significant difference, especially when applying for positions that aren't part of a large hiring class.
However, it's important to note that honesty and integrity are highly valued in the professional world. Misrepresenting oneself can lead to complications and potential damage to one's reputation. It's always best to present oneself truthfully and let one's skills and qualifications speak for themselves.
Remember, the goal is not just to get the job, but to thrive in it and contribute positively to the workplace. Being authentic is a key part of that.

Jews are circumcised
..my brother in Christ if you’re willing to suck a dick I’m already questioning your straightness..
The fact that you are (likely) already in the easiest category for IB recruitment but you prefer lying to be diversity says a lot about you.
