IB LGBTQ Recruiting?

Fellow Monkeys,

I'm a current senior still trying to break into banking.

I recently came across this posting for an LGBTQ banking summit. I don't fit any of those categories however I was thinking if I played up that I was bisexual and related with the other LGBTQ bankers I think it could be to my advantage.

However, I was wondering how frowned upon would it look if they discovered that I wasn't actually bisexual?

In the same boat, senior trying to figure it out. With that being said, I would not advise doing it. It's a one day summit in April, maybe some networking that would help you get an internship comes out of it but not a full time job. Definitely not worth posing as something you not because if someone figured it out, you'd definitely be balled from the bank. Hell, in this climate they might charge you with a hate crime.

Exactly, use affirmative action to my advantage. If one can change their pronoun on a whim who's to say I can't be bisexual on a whim.

hahahahahaha. If this isn't proof it's way too hard to get an interview in IB idk what is

just a monkey trying to find his way in the finance jungle

They have the spots cuz most people in finance look down on them and are not welcoming. Yea it sucks that it's easier for them, but do you really want to go that low? Work hard and land something on your own merits.

They historically have been excluded. When that goes away, hopefully these programs do to. At the end of the day it isn't made for you or me, so we got to get things on our own.

My friend is working in JP Morgan at a top group and went to the LGBQT event. He ended up having to constantly go on dates with this gay guy in the group, that invited him out to Florida over the summer. was funny af to see him dance around the guy and finally get that summer internship > return offer. Im pretty sure he had to do some things he would never admit to

What concert costs 45 cents? 50 Cent feat. Nickelback.

On the SAT writing section I wrote about how I was gay (even though I was a straight right-winger). My position is that if institutions are going to unethically use “identity” as a qualification for admission and hiring then the best way to fight back is to use that tool against them. Besides, the gay community is not economically discriminated against in the United States. They earn more money, on average, than straight people. The idea that gay people need affirmative action is laughable.

Why not just go in black-face? It's still pretending you're something that you aren't and attempting to take opportunities away from minority groups so you shouldn't have a problem with it if you think it's okay to lie about your sexuality.

The gay community is not discriminated against in the United States. They earn more money, on average, than straight people. Just because they are a statistical minority doesn't mean they need affirmative action.

Level of income doesn't define equality or lack thereof. Gay employees might be paid more (on average) however they are also hired less than straight employees. This is probably due to lack of applications for these positions on their part but that's why we have these LGBTQ+ events (to draw their attention to these possible opportunities).
