Do IB analysts get laptops to work from home?
Hey guys. It's time for me to upgrade my laptop and I will be going to banking next year. Was wondering if to put up the money to get a high quality one that I can use for work, or if the firm will provide one once I start?
You'll get one from your job and won't be able to use your personal laptop from home anyway. If you are planning on putting your money towards something would recommend a good monitor, keyboard, and mouse for a home setup.
I don't know if it's truly every bank, but all of my friends have gotten laptops from work and been prohibited from using personal hardware. This is true from BBs to EBs to MMs. Might not be true for regional boutiques, but definitely true for anything that could be remotely considered "on the street:
I’m at a BB and noone recieves a laptop. Need to use your own personal one with a VPN. Unable to save anything to your own computer as it essentially mirrors your work computer, and anything you save saves onto the work drive rather than your computer. Cost cutting.
Not sure why the monkey shit. This is not inaccurate, this is what happens at my BB...
we got a laptop we docked to a desktop setup (monitor, mouse, keyboard, no desktop computer) at the office and we got a VPN to work from home
What from this forum have you read that makes you think that you will have the opportunity to go home?
This aged like milk lol
