do investment banks ever renege offers?
I'm guessing that this is an unlikely occurrence, but I was just wondering if investment banks ever renege verbal offers. I got a call last Saturday extending a verbal offer from a boutique investment bank, which I accepted on the spot. The Monday after that Saturday, I was e-mailed a pdf addressed to me with the written offer, confirming the offer. Now, almost 7 days later, I haven't heard from anything, and I never signed anything. Am I worrying about nothing?
I recently signed and after sending in the PDF of the offer that I printed out I havent heard anything. Although i think its kind of strange they dont send a "package" of things to do early on, apparently after searching through threads its pretty common practice. Lots of incoming analysts have radio silence after they sign. I think the background check will be coming soon, but in many cases I hear its done after you are on the job. Not too sure on this maybe other people can chime in.
Signed at a BB if that makes any difference.
I signed with a BB a few months ago, been radio silence ever since.
^When do they do the background checks? Im planning on going on vacation before my training in July.
Email HR and tell them that you will be traveling because that last month is when most banks conduct all of their tests. In fact, they want to drug test done no sooner than 30 days before you start so you need to plan around this.
Same. Signed a month and a half ago, haven't heard anything since. BB.
Not usually but they will if you don't pass drug/background test. Or if you are Lehman, Bear, UBS in 2008/2009 who rescinded offers.
