Does anyone still like Investment Banking?
It feels like their are a lot go people who come on these blogs to shoot down or negatively speak on investment banking. People seem to complain on working long hours, boring work, and the occasional rant on MDs. Does anyone still like it? Enjoy long hours and like their bosses?
Because anyone has ever liked it?
There are certain people who like IB, but they wouldn't take the time to post all over about it. Similiar to how you are much more likely to post a review about a negative experience at a restaurant versus a positive one.
Very few people like working out but everyone wants to be ripped
It's really about exit ops for most people. I see it as a career accelerator and branding stamp of approval that allows you to expand your network and scope of options. There is an immediate assumption of competency and professionalism you carry when you have IBD on your resume.
Unlike most people here, I also see the junior IB comp as far more attractive than senior-level comp. In my view, having $100k saved up in your 20s is FAR more powerful than $400k in your 30s when premium lifestyle, GF, family, and other obligations become fixed cash drains. It buys flexibility for your next move unlike seniors who make $1M but are required to stay for 4 years so you can actually keep what you sow.
I've noticed an increased interest in Real Estate on this site lately
