Does it get worse?

I’m at a MM about two months on the job now and feel like it’s really not that bad.. does it get worse from here?

For context, I’ve been on two live deals so far (one died, other still ongoing). I work till 1/2 Monday through Thursday. Usually finish up Fridays around 9 but have had earlier. Never worked Saturday and usually have a couple hours on Sunday, most I’ve done is like 8.

Living that schedule you mentioned becomes unsustainable in the long-run.

Also, the learning curve flattens around the 2 year mark and tasks become extremely repetitive.

Lastly, people don't see themselves becoming an MD (high pressure to close deals, revenue quotas, always selling, still poor life balance)

Glad to hear you're tolerating your time so far. I know from friends that a collaborative and friendly group can go a long way in IB, but ultimately it might not be enough to justify the demanding schedule once you start thinking about your family or life balance

I mean yeah but I feel like honestly is it really that bad living like this?

I still go out every Friday and Saturday and now am able to do so with complete financial freedom. Never having to worry that I spent too much and need to eat ramen for a few days to offset.

Nothing really happens Monday - Thursday anyway, although would be nice to do dinners with my gf. I feel like all this job has done is cut back on my video game playing and other time wasters.
