Does your major matter if you're at a target?
If one is at a target, is there a major advantage in being an econ major? I'm an incoming sophomore applying to SA positions for my sophomore summer, and I'm majoring in a physical science that I'm very passionate about and have strong research experience and publications in (not computer science). However, it doesn't exactly have any direct mapping to an area of finance like chemistry does to healthcare, for example. To make matters worse, my current internship is in SWE (at a FAANG company, if that matters), and I have no finance experience besides school clubs. Would I be better off saying that I'm an econ major?
If you're at an Ivy / top school you can study essentially anything. Econ is not super relevant to corporate finance and you can learn most of what you need from IB valuation and interview courses
