Don't know anyone in city!

I have an internship lined up at a boutique bank in a small Midwestern city. I'm going to be the only intern and there is no one my age at the bank. I'm from the east coast so I know absolutely no one there. Also, I'm 20 so I'm not old enough to go to the bars. How do I meet people my age? Or do I just stick it out for the next 10 weeks?

classic first world problem
yes, but at the same time, I've been in that position and it can be tough.

exactly. The solution is to, any time you're reading a book/magazine/watching a game/catching up on work, do it at a certain bar you like. You can pick more than one, but just plant yourself there at all times, be patient, and you might be surprised.

^agreed with sports. i was in a similar situation - new city for an internship, knew no one. ended up joining a local group of sports fans supporting my favorite team. are there any college campuses nearby? you could probably sign up at a gym and join a club team or something

Thanks guys. that was solid advice. @Protectedclass. Can't tell you city. There's only one bank there so it'll be really easy to find out who i am.

I moved to a major city for work without knowing anyone there, and in my first year I found that the easiest ways to meet chicks (outside of bars / happy hour) were:

-cooking classes

-yoga classes at the gym ($$)

when do they hold cooking classes/yoga classes during banking work hours?

Weekends. And I'm on west coast time

A small town in the midwest with ONE bank. Yeah bro, you're fucked. Come in early, stay late, and try and get some good references, because I can almost guarantee that the last place you're going to want to take a full time offer is at that bank after being there for 10 weeks. Lived most my life in the midwest. Being 21 there is an awful experience. At 20?! I hope you're really downplaying how small the place is.
